Celtics push past Cavaliers with 109-102 victory in Game 4, take 3-1 series lead
David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-102 on Monday, May 13, at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Clevland, Ohio, to take a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

Boston’s all-star guard Jayson Tatum once again led the way to victory for the Celtics, scoring a game-high 33 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out five assists to help the Celtics defeat the Cavaliers by seven points. This is Tautum’s second straight 30+ point, 10+ rebound, and 5+ assist game in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, and Boston has found success when Tatum records those numbers.

Tatum was joined by three-time NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown, who scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Together, Tatum and Brown combined for 60 of Boston's 109 points. Celtics guard Jrue Holiday was the final piece of the puzzle, adding 16 points to Tatum and Brown’s combined 60 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out five assists, and capturing three steals to help the Celtics extend their lead to 3-1.

Darius Garland took charge for Clevland in the absence of star Donavan Mitchell, who was forced to miss Game 4 with a calf Injury. Garland scored a game-high 30 points, grabbed three rebounds, and recorded seven assists. Guard’s Max Strus (15), Carris LeVert (19), and forward Evan Mobley (19) were the only other Cavaliers to record double-digit scoring.

The Celtics will return home to TD Garden in Boston, Massachistas on Wednesday, May 15 for Game 5 where Tatum and company look to close out the series 4-1 in front of their home crowd, while the Cavaliers will fight to stay alive for an opportunity to force a Game 6 back in Clevland.
