The Winnipeg Jets took 1-0 series lead against the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday night thanks to a wild 7-6 win. The Jets took advantage of a mess of a performance by Avalanche goalie Alexandar Georgiev to secure the win send their fans into a 60-minute frenzy.
It was the Jets' fifth goal early in the third period that ended up being the difference.
It was, quite literally, a matter of inches.
Adam Lowry ended up getting credited with the goal, and it was impossible to tell during play — and from most of the replays — if the puck actually crossed the line as Lowry's shot ended up hitting the post three different times.

You might be looking at that play and asking, where exactly did it completely cross the line? Well, you needed to see a freeze frame from inside the net to see where did. It was brief. It also could not have possibly been any closer.

For it to be a good goal the entire puck has to be completely across the line. If any small piece of that puck was touching even a centimeter of the red goal line, then it is not a goal.
As you can see there, there is just the thinnest white line between the puck and the goal line to make a good goal. That goal ended up being the difference in the game.
